When it came to choosing a Fulfilment Company to help build and deliver my wellness boxes, I really wanted to support small UK businesses and I also sought out those with shared values.
I put a meticulous level of research into the the whole concept of my wellness boxes and I wanted the same to apply to finding a suitable company who could fill and distribute them. From the ease of ordering online to the delivery to your door, everything needed to have thought and care applied at every step. The high quality products needed to have a high quality, considered approach.
I could have attempted to fulfil the orders from home but honestly that wouldn’t have made things simple and streamlined but instead very stressful and it would not allow the time and attention your boxes deserve. I talk about making time for yourself and managing situations that you know will create stress, so I had to lead by example and outsource this to a company I could trust and build a relationship with, who I knew would take the same level and care as if I was doing them myself. This was a challenge in itself.
On my search for a supplier I encountered various companies who I didn’t think would do this. I didn’t want the boxes to have been just another on the factory floor or conveyor belt. In the end, before launching the boxes, I took a similar amount of time researching the fulfilment companies as I did the products that went inside them!
It’s safe to say, OS Suffolk take this as seriously as I do and their facilities have the space, technology and they have the right attitude and knowledge to manage the process methodically and with the respect they deserve.
As a local business I was able to visit them in person, tour their building and see their operation for myself. This alone could have been overwhelming for me but Sue and Phil made me feel so at home, I knew my boxes would be taken care of in their barn-based production facility. It was so lovely because I also got to meet their daughter who is autistic and she loved seeing all the wonderful products from our first quarterly box. We share similar journeys raising neurodivergent kids and it’s nice to work with someone who just understands the importance of these boxes in helping adults with anxiety, depression, gain self- acceptance.
As a family run business they have a range of clients and as my small business starts out, their experience supporting both large and small business is invaluable to me. They work with natural fruit syrups, fruit vinegars, jams, sauces and also botanical skincare and personalised stationery, as well as wooden toys and more besides.
They have values similar to me - integrity, trust, collaboration, innovation, and inspiration. Sue and Phil take great pride in the work they do and are driven to have their client’s own values and standards met when delivering to their customers.
As for collaboration, OS Suffolk have taken the initiative to build good communication and encourage their clients to work with one another to support each other and make them grow. OS Suffolk have been nominated for a Suffolk’s Small Business Award and it is well-deserved as they treat people as they would want to be treated themselves.
Finally, I also loved the name – OS stands for odd socks – for Sue and Phil this represented how you can change things to suit you and tailor your business, as a small, family run business, to be one that can do things a bit differently and not follow the same old routine and processes. It’s ok to be different. It’s ok to wear odd socks, or not.
They want me to succeed as I navigate my product-based business with their expert advice on supplier recommendations and support network of other great sub box owners I feel excited to bring them on board!
